Carissa Chainey, originally from Middleton, Idaho, graduated from Middleton High School in 2021. She began playing volleyball in seventh grade and quickly rose to prominence, earning 4A Southern Idaho Conference Player of the Year (2020), First Team All-Conference (2019, 2020), and All-Conference honors (2018) during her high school career. Carissa started her collegiate journey at Feather River College, where she competed in both indoor and beach volleyball. She collected numerous honors, including CCCAA All-Tournament (2022), GVC First Team All-Conference (2021, 2022), Big 8 Most Valuable Player (2023 – beach), AVCA and CCCAA Watch List recognition (2023 – beach), and CCCAA All-NorCal Team selections (2022, 2023 – beach), among several others. She continued her career at the Division I level with McNeese State University, excelling in both indoor and beach volleyball. While there, she earned All-Southland Conference First Team (2023) and All-Louisiana Second Team honors. Carissa later transferred to the University of Nevada - Reno, where she competed in Division I indoor volleyball.
