The Golden Eagles Men's Basketball Team Will Tip-Off the Season Against Antelope Valley College on November 1st!
Golden Eagles Basketball Team Looks to Build on Recent Growth with Talented Roster
The FRC men's basketball team is entering an exciting new season, powered by a roster rich in talent, experience, and potential. After two seasons of steady improvement, including an impressive jump from just 4 wins two years ago to 18 wins last year, the team is eager to reach new heights this season.
At the heart of this momentum are the athletes who have been shaping the team's success. Damonte Duhart, a 6'5" sophomore forward from Las Vegas, NV, returns for his second season after averaging a double-double as a freshman and earning First-Team All-Conference honors. Meanwhile, sharpshooter Kaeden Castillero, a 5'10" sophomore, also returns after receiving All-Conference recognition.
This year's roster is full of players who made significant contributions early in their careers. Jerel Victor, a 6'1" scorer from Fairfield, CA, along with Aaron Blake (6'1"), Hayden Brawley (6'0") and Louis Griffin (6'3") — all in their third year — bring a wealth of experience. Additionally, Nick Fletcher (6'4"), Lance Haworth (6'3"), and Armon Baker (6'3") are returning after impactful freshman seasons, ready to take on even bigger roles.
The team isn't just experienced — it's also bolstered by an outstanding recruiting class. Freshmen stars include 6'7" Jaden Armes from Saginaw, TX, 6'6" Michael Gebremeskel from Las Vegas, and 6'5" Eskil Grimsmo from Norway, 5'10 Prince Davis from Las Vegas, and 6'1 Zacarrion Jackson from Las Vegas. Newcomers like 6'7" Arinze Onyeguli, a redshirt from Bakersfield, CA, and 6'4" Kam Ricks from Las Vegas, bring added versatility and athleticism.
Coach Jensen notes the depth of talent on the roster: "This team does not lack talent, length or athleticism. On paper, we're loaded with physical tools, leadership, and experience. While losing Derrick Monroe was a challenge, I believe our young men are ready to step up and lead us to even greater success." Head Coach Derek Jensen is entering his 3rd season with the Golden Eagles. Last season FRC won 18 contests, including the 1st round of 3C2A regional play-offs.
With a roster full of confident, capable athletes, the Golden Eagles are poised for a watchful season — and one that could be their most successful in years.
