The 2-0 Golden Eagles traveled to De Anza on Saturday, September 13th to face the 2-0 Mountain Lions. Feather River College struck first with an Isaac Matthews 58 yard touchdown reception from Kayden Leaf on the opening drive of the game. The hard fought back and forth contest remained tight the entire game (21-20 at half). However, with just seven minutes left in the contest, De Anza scored the go ahead touchdown to take a 35-29 lead and victory, moving to 3-0 on the season. Kayden Leaf led the Golden Eagles with 73 yards rushing and one touchdown, while throwing for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomores Isaac Matthews (Glendale, AZ) and Kyle Valdez (Lehi, Utah) each finished the day with one reception for a touchdown. Sophomore Marco Casci had an outstanding afternoon on defense with 6 solo tackles (10 total) and 1.5 sacks. Sophomore Aiden Flores from Sparks, NV was dominant on the interior line, recorded 2.5 sacks with 10 total tackles. The Golden Eagles will play next at home versus Hartnell College on Saturday, September 20. (Game time is 1:00 PM)
