Golden Eagles End Historic Season
IRVINE--Feather River College captured their first-ever win at the 3C2A State Final Four on Sunday, but also saw their 2026 season come to a close later in the day at the hands of Santa Ana College.
The Golden Eagles, the champions of NorCal after their win over Ohlone College earlier in the day, fell to Santa Ana in an elimination game early Sunday evening, 12-3. Feather River's magical season, which featured a Golden Valley Conference title, a NorCal regional crown and their first win at the Final Four, ends at 37-16.
Santa Ana moves on to Monday to take on Palomar, and must beat the Comets twice to win the title.
Feather River scored first against Santa Ana, using a walk by Nick Anderson and base hits by Luke Henderson and Jake Dahl to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. That margin held until the bottom of the fourth when the Dons put up a 5-spot to take a 5-1 lead. The southern California team would go on to score in five straight innings to salt the game away.
The Golden Eagles would score twice in the eigth to stay alive, but the damage had already been done as the Dons kept their season alive at 42-7-1.
Legend Landcaster, Anderson and Walker DesRosier had two hits each for FRC, who had nine hits in the game. Six different pitchers threw for the Golden Eagles to try and cool off hot Santa Ana bats. The Dons had 14 hits in the game, including three home runs.
