Vikings Push Feather River to Sunday Finale
QUINCY--For Feather River College baseball fans, the bad news is that Saturday, May 16, totally belonged to West Valley College during a 14-1 win over the Golden Eagles in the 3C2A NorCal Finals at the Eagles Nest.
The good news is, there is another day. That day is Sunday, when the two teams will meet in a NorCal winner-take-all game that begins at noon.
Today was all Vikings. West Valley built a 4-0 lead through four innings, and even though the Golden Eagles got one run back in the fifth on a Noah Carrington RBI-double, the visitors would answer with six runs in the seventh and four more in the eighth.
The Golden Eagles sent eight pitchers to the mound to try and stop the Vikings on a day when they definitely had their hitting shoes on. WVC finished with 13 hits on the day.
Feather River had just four hits, three of them doubles, against WVC starter Apolo Lapiz. He didn't allow an earned run, walked just one and fanned five.
FRC will take a 35-14 record into Sunday's final, with a trip to the 3C2A Final Four in Irvine on the line. West Valley is now 33-14-1.
