Panthers Pound Out 20 Hits To Power Past FRC
QUINCY--The Hartnell College Panthers pounded out 20 hits and sent runners across the plate 15 times to ensure that their season would go at least one more day on Friday afternoon at the Eagles Nest.
The Panthers topped Feather River 15-11 to force a winner-take-all game on Saturday, set for noon at the Eagles Nest. The winner of the best of three series advances to next week's NorCal Regional finals.
Feather River scored 11 times today on nine hits, but it wasn't quite enough on this day. The Panthers scored seven times in the second inning to set the tone, and put up crooked numbers three more times in the game. FRC scored six times themselves in the fourth on a three-run double by Nick Anderson and three more times in the sixth (Jackson Phillips 2-run homer) but the Panthers seemed to answer each time Feather River mounted a threat. FRC sent eight pitchers to the mound today.
Phillips and Kory Chu led the offense with a pair of hits each.
Start time on Saturday is noon and can be watched on FRC Baseball's Facebook page.
