Golden Eagles Back on Track After 12-5 Win Over Knights
REDDING--Feather River got back on the winning track on Thursday afternoon with a 12-5 win on the road over Shasta College.
The Golden Eagles, who dropped a pair of games to Lassen last weekend, pounded out 17 hits in the victory over Shasta to improve to 28-11 on the year and to 20-4 in the Golden Valley Conference. The Knights are now 16-21 overall and 14-10 in conference play.
The two squads will play again on Friday at 1 pm. The Golden Eagles are now 4-0 against the Knights this season.
Walker DesRosier had four of the Dirty Birds' 17 hits, while Nick Anderson and Luke Henderson had three base knocks each. FRC scored four runs each in the second, sixth and seven innings to provide all of their scoring.
Isaiah Mezger hit a two-run homer to get the visitors on the board in the second inning, and Anderson followed up with a RBI-single. The Golden Eagles trailed briefly in the sixth (5-4) before putting up another four-spot, this time via Jake Dahl's two-run single and Henderson's two-run double. Anderson belted a bases-clearing triple in the seventh (3 RBI) to seal the verdict.
Anderson finished with four RBI and Henderson had two. Bryce Sargent had a pair of hits.
Marcus Maeder pitched five innings to get the win, allowing eight hits and two earned runs. He walked two and fanned four. The trio of Keller Bloodworth, Ryan Pineo and Kani Thomas pitched the final four shutout innings, allowing just two scratch hits between them.
These are the final regular season games for conference-champion Golden Eagles, who will begin regional play next week.
