Golden Eagles Feel Losing Sting for First Time in 45 Days
QUINCY--It had been 45 days since Feather River College had been on the short end of the scoreboard, until today.
The Golden Eagles 18-game winning streak came to a close this afternoon at the Eagles Nest in a non-conference contest versus Cosumnus River, 10-7. FRC had not lost since February 6 against San Mateo, a span of 45 days.
Feather River is now 22-7, and of course still unbeaten in Golden Valley Conference play, where they will return this weekend to take on rival Butte College.
Cosumnus River bled the Golden Eagles with a thousand paper cuts by scoring in six of the nine innings. The Golden Eagles used seven different pitchers on a bullpen day and CRC never scored more than two runs in a inning. Via that route, they built an 8-4 lead that they never relinquished.
FRC scored frequently as well, just not enough on this streak-ending day. They had 16 total hits, but left 12 runners on base.
Luke Henderson had three of those hits. Walker DesRosier, Nick Anderson, Kory Chu, Jake Dahl and Landon Sable all had two hits each. Anderson's two hits were doubles.
Feather River takes on Butte this Thursday and Saturday in Quincy. Thursday's single game starts at 2 pm and Saturday's doubleheader begins at noon.
