Golden Eagles Finish Sweep of Corsairs
EUREKA--Feather River completed the three-game sweep of College of the Redwoods today with a 15-2 capper on Saturday afternoon in Eureka.
The Golden Eagles played 25 total innings over the two days, with just one stanza to forget in capturing victories by the scores of 18-0, 7-5 and 15-2 (the Corsairs scored all five of their runs yesterday in one inning). FRC, now winners of nine straight games after a 4-6 start, improved to 13-6 overall and to 5-0 in the Golden Valley Conference.
Today, FRC jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first. Legend Lancaster got his team on the board with a two-run single, and then a few batters later Bryce Sargent bashed a grand slam to give the Golden Eagles a lead that they would not relinquish.
Feather River would add five more runs in the sixth and three in the eighth. They would end up with 13 hits on the day, three by Sargent and two each by Lancaster, Walker DesRosier and Kory Chu. One of Lancaster's hits was a double, and he had four RBI.
Starting pitcher Tanner Hail was outstandings, pitching six innings to pick up the win while allowing only three hits and no earned runs. He walked three and struck out eight. Ben Davalos, Carter Lindyn and Gunner Mountcastle followed out of the bullpen with a scoreless run each.
The Golden Eagles are scheduled to play their home openers next Saturday (March 7), hosting Siskiyous in a doubleheader that starts at noon.
