Beavers Score Late to Win Rubber Match
SACRAMENTO--A very late American River College rush pushed the host Beavers past Feather River on Saturday afternoon at Beaver Field, 7-3.
The Beavers scored twice in the seventh and three times in the eighth to erase a 3-2 Feather River margin to win the game and take the series two games to one. The Golden Eagles return home with a 3-4 record while American River improved to 2-3.
FRC jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a trio of runs in the top of the third. The Dirty Birds used an RBI-single from Walker DesRosier, a two-bag rip from Kory Chu to bring home a run and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Christian Obos.
American River got two runs back in the bottom half of the inning, but Feather River maintained that 3-2 margin mostly because of the starting pitching work of Jack Hanna. Hanna piitched the first five innings without giving up an earned run, scattering four hits without allowing a walk while fanning a robust 10 batters.
But ARC broke through with two runs in the seventh and added three clinching scores in the eighth for the win. FRC had a pair of runners reach base in the eighth and had another in the ninth, but couldn't bring them home.
The Golden Eagles will return to the Sacramento area next week for games on February 5-6 against Sierra in Rocklin (Thursday-Friday), and they will also take on San Mateo on Friday in Rocklin.
