Beavers Bat Their Way Past FRC
SACRAMENTO--Host American River used a five-run third inning to build a lead that visiting Feather River couldn't overcome during a 9-2 win on Thursday afternoon at Beaver Field.
The two teams will meet again on Friday at 1 pm and again on Saturday at noon.
Feather River jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top half of the second. The Golden Eagles loaded the bases with no one out after Christian Obos was hit by a pitch, Legend Lancaster singled and Jackson Phillips walked. Jackson Hertel followed with a sacrifice fly to score Obos and a batter later Walker DesRosier dropped a bunt single to bring home Lancaster and FRC led by two.
But the Beavers got one run back in the bottom half of the inning and then pushed five runs across in the third on just three hits to lead, 6-2. From there, American River starting pitcher Ayden Dringenberg retired nine straight batters from the third through the fifth and allowed just one more hit before leaving after six innings.
Feather River would finish with just five hits in the game by five different players (all singles). American River had 12 total hits, also all singles.
The Golden Eagles will take a 2-3 record into Friday's game, while the Beavers are now 1-2.
