Golden Eagles Win Monday Encounter with SJD, 6-3
QUINCY--The Feather River baseball team has a big three-game series this weekend with Lassen College, which could go a long ways towards determining the Golden Valley Conference champs.
What better way to prepare than to play more baseball?
The Golden Eagles stepped outside of the conference race with a Monday non-league contest against San Joaquin Delta, winning 6-3. FRC built a 6-0 lead against the Big 8 Conference squad and then cruised to the finish line for their 27th victory of the season (27-8). San Joaquin Delta is now 18-19 on the year.
Feather River laced 14 hits in the game, three each by Dylan Marx and Anthony Cepeda. Marx scored three times and had a double, while Cepeda drove in a pair of runs. Cepeda is now hitting a GVC best .446. Kory Chu, Nick Anderson and Grant McGuire had two hits apiece.
The Golden Eagles pitched by committee today, sending seven different pitchers to the rubber. No one threw more than two innings. Will Page-Allen earned the save with 1.2 innings of work with three strikeouts. It is his eighth save of the season.
This weekend's series against Lassen begins in Quincy on Friday with a noon doubleheader, and then the slate shifts to Lassen for a Saturday single game at 1 pm.
