Golden Eagles Place 15 on GVC-All Academic Team
The 2024 Feather River baseball team had another banner season on the field and also had an equally successful year in the classroom.
The Golden Eagles had 15 players named to the Golden Valley Conference All-Academic Team, and additionally had four student-athletes earn CCCAA All-State Academic honors.
To be considered for the conference award, the player needs to be a sophomore (including redshirt freshmen) and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. To earn all-state academic honors, that GPA needs to be 3.5 or better.
Golden Eagle pitchers Eric Valdez and Ian Hoslett earned all-state academic honors, as did infielder Andrew Lehmann and outfielder Jared Stevenson. They were both of course also named to the All-GVC Academic Team.
Other Golden Eagles earning All-GVC Academic Team honors include pitchers Cameron Erickson, Kyle Giovannoni, Gage Hoyle, Tyler Stolfich, Taisei Watanabe, Caden Hendrickson and Sean Kinney. Also earning the athletic-academic honors was infielders Reed Alexander, Shane Danley and Aaron Nobu. Joining Stevenson as an academic outfielder is Kaito Araki.
FRC only has 12 sophomores listed on their 2024 roster, so including redshirt freshmen nearly every Golden Eagle in that category earned the all-academic awards. On the field, head coach Terry Baumgartner's team had a 35-10 record, a GVC championships and a No. 1 ranking in the CCCAA NorCal region for most of the year.
