Feather River College Beach Volleyball Off to a Scorching Start in 2026
The Golden Eagles are flying high to open the 2026 season.
After finishing 3rd in the state at the 2025 3C2A Beach State Championships, Feather River College Beach Volleyball has carried that momentum straight into the spring, jumping out to a perfect 10–0 record and earning the #4 national ranking in JC Beach Volleyball.
With five key returners from last year's GVC championship squad, the Golden Eagles look deeper, faster, and more battle-tested than ever. (Latest Photo Gallery)
A Dominant 1's Pair
Leading the charge at the top court is arguably one of the most dynamic duos in the country.
Teya Gibbs, the 2026 AVCA Beach Player to Watch and reigning GVC Beach MVP, is teamed up with Chloe Albiez, the National Two-Year Player of the Year. Together, they form a powerhouse 1's pair capable of taking down any team in the nation.
Gibbs' elite speed, defensive range, and volleyball IQ complement Albiez's physicality, court control, and competitive fire. Opponents will have their hands full all spring long.
"They will be a force to be reckoned with," said Head Coach Sarah Ritchie. And early results are proving exactly that.
Strength at the 2's and Depth Across the Lineup
The 2's team is anchored by Mia Rivera, another GVC Beach MVP, who brings experience and composure to the lineup. She's paired with talented newcomer Sumer Williams, whose athleticism and court awareness have made an immediate impact.
Returning standouts Shasta Garr and MeleSiale Beman are back to defend the sand for the Golden Eagles, providing veteran leadership and consistency throughout the lineup.
And the freshman class? They're not just contributing — they're competing.
- Shelby Nussle, Quincy's star multi-sport athlete, is already proving she belongs at the collegiate level.
- Carol Manu, an Indoor All-Region standout, brings high-level experience and offensive versatility.
- Raegan Burrows and Avary Arment add depth, size, and athleticism that give FRC one of the most complete rosters in the state.
Statement Wins Early
The Golden Eagles' 10–0 record hasn't come against weak competition. FRC has already secured impressive wins over:
- #16 Cabrillo College
- San Joaquin Delta College
- #19 Monterey Peninsula College
These victories have solidified their place among the nation's elite — but the toughest stretch is still ahead.
The Gauntlet Ahead
Over the next few weeks, Feather River will face its most challenging competition of the season, squaring off against:
- #1 Mesa Community College
- #3 Fresno City College
- #5 MiraCosta College
- #10 Mesa Community College (AZ)
- #11 Grossmont College
- #14 Long Beach City College
It's a true national-level gauntlet — exactly how Coach Ritchie wants it.
"You wanna be the best, you gotta play the best."
For the Golden Eagles, the next few weeks are not just about wins — they're about growth, resilience, and sharpening their competitive edge for championship season in May.
